Smyth County DSS
​The Smyth County Department of Social Services provides benefits and services to qualifying people in need within Smyth County, Virginia. Information and referral services are available to all citizens.


OUR MISSION:
Provide services and support to the citizens of Smyth County to eliminate poverty, neglect and abuse; to strengthen families through community collaborations to achieve self-sufficiency.
Benefit Programs
​We administer the following Benefit Assistance programs: TANF - Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, SNAP - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as the Food Stamp Program), Medicaid, Auxiliary Grant and Energy assistance.
