The application period for fuel assistance runs through November 13, 2020.  Applications can be filed on-line at www.commonhelp.virginia.gov, by calling toll-free 1-855-635-4370, or contacting the office at 1-276-783-8148 to have one mailed to you.  Applications can be returned to the agency via US Mail, faxed to 1-276-783-6237 or placed in the drop box outside the building.  Applications may also be picked up at the agency.  Fuel Assistance helps eligible households with the costs of heating their homes.  After the state determines how much each household will receive the benefits will be available by the end of December, first of January.

Crisis Assistance will begin November 1, 2020 to assist with the repair of or purchase of heating equipment and security deposits needed in order to have electric or gas heat established or to prevent the service from being disconnected.  A separate application is required for Crisis.  Only homeowners are eligible for purchase of heating equipment.
